Hearing tonight on Whalerock land

August 22, 2013

CHARLESTOWN - The Charlestown Town Council will hold a public hearing tonight regarding the potential purchase of the 78 acres, known as the Whalerock property, to use as open space.

Developer Larry LeBlanc was in the midst of a public hearing before the Charlestown Zoning Board for permission to erect two 410-foot wind turbines on the site.

The zoning board hearing was stalled once the town began pursuing an option to purchase the property.

The hearing regarding purchasing the property will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Charlestown Elementary School.

Stay tuned to the Chariho Times for the outcome of the hearing.
