Good food for good prices at Small Axe Cafe

March 13, 2011

CHARLESTOWN – Looking for tasty, reasonably priced meals in a quiet, mellow location? Head to the Small Axe Cafe.

The Small Axe Cafe opened on the rural grounds of the Umbrella Factory in December after the previous management shut it down more than three years ago. Current owners Mark Pendola and Gino Turano saw that the space was available and used their connections to open the Small Axe Cafe.

While working on cooking some fresh food for two local patrons, Pendola said, “We are looking to turn the place into its own farm, putting out high quality food.” He also mentioned that the rustic seating was bought from the original owners.

Pendola said that they are in collaboration with Small Axe, who supplies pottery for all the dishes and mugs that are hand crafted by Dave Turano and the owners of the Small Axe Productions.

“It provides a uniqueness with our plates and our own produce,” Pendola explained.

He then served the two patrons, who have made this their second trip to the Small Axe since its reopening. They were clearly enjoying their food and exclaimed that the cafe provides “Good food for good prices.”

More information is available in this week's The Chariho Times. Small Axe is located at 4820 Old Post Road in Charlestown.

Hey! I want to try this too. I am a food lover though it doesn't show in my built. I consider the place as well because I want it to be placid. So, that is a total package to all your customers. Great deal! Well, I am planning to put my own cafe here in the United States too. But the cost is too high and so I m planning to get an installment loan so I can finance all my needs. Anyway, you have a good place plus good food with better prices. Keep it up!

what kind of review is this? "Good food for good prices"...are you kidding me? There is virtually NO information that suggests why anyone should go there. There isn't an address, hours of operation, type of menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner), menu items?, reservations?, it's a cafe...is there wi-fi capability? parking? and what one persons idea is of a "good price" may not be a "good price" for someone else. I would suggest adding some much needed information if you wish to recommend this establishment.

so I'm reading this article and i think, sounds good - i'll give it a try. then i realize i don't have a clue where it is. oh, wait a minute, i have two clues 1) it's on the rural grounds of the umbrella factory (that should make it easy) and 2) it's in Charlestown (i think). a new small business could use ALL the help it could get.
