Fundraiser held for Ousterhout

August 13, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – In light of the recent suspension and termination of former Director of Public Works David Ousterhout and his upcoming appeal of the decision, Charles Ted Wright, also known as “Mr. Narragansett” and several friends hosted a fundraiser on Monday evening to raise money for the former DPW’s legal fees. Ousterhout was suspended and eventually fired earlier this year by Town Manager Pamela Nolan. Specific details as to the reason for the suspension and termination have not yet been revealed to the public.
According to Wright, a close friend and long-time colleague, the legal fees for the appeal are expensive and overwhelming for Ousterhout and his family. He explained his reasoning for coordinating the event, which he did with the help of Narragansett Historical Society Representative and Towers Committee member John Miller and Towers Committee member David O’Brien.
“I just thought it was unfair what happened to him,” Wright explained. “Basically, what set it all up was that he was speaking on my behalf and that’s one of the things that bothers me. He has the whole town at heart. He’s not just an employee of the town, he’s a shaker and a mover. Everything he does is for everybody’s benefit.”
