The hand-signed, family Christmas cards from the White House seemed an anomaly at the weekly Narragansett Times, unceremoniously tacked up as they were in the tiny, cluttered office of publisher Fred Wilson.
A 22-year-old, I was cutting some journalistic teeth at his homespun newspaper, having signed on post-Army during the holidays of 1962. Thatâ€™s when Fred put up the last Christmas greeting Jack Kennedy would ever send him.
