Firefighters get drenched for charity

June 5, 2014

EAST GREENWICH — Firefighters from departments all over would use gallons upon gallons of cold water to douse flames and keep their respective communities safe.

But over the last couple of weeks, members of the East Greenwich Fire Department used that same cold water tohelp the community at-large, just not against raging fires.

Instead, they used the water on themselves.

Several East Greenwich firefighters of all ranks have donated money and a few minutes of their time accepting various “Cold Water Challenges” either from different fire departments from around the state, family members or even fellow EGFD members in order to help charities of their choosing.
