Fallen NK vets to be named on memorial

July 17, 2014

NORTH KINGSTOWN—Two North Kingstown men will at long last be honored in the coming months for their sacrifice to the United States’ cause in World War II and Vietnam. Capt. Leroy H. Allen and Chief Builder Walter McGinn will have their names etched onto the monument across from North Kingstown Town Hall, the absence of which was brought to the attention of the town council by the parades committee.
Meeting on June 30, the committee unanimously approved a recommendation to have the two men memorialized, which the town council approved unanimously in turn on Monday evening.

Allen’s name should clearly be on there, and if we named a park after Mr. McGinn, he should be on there [as well].
