SOUTH KINGSTOWN - All game long, the Ocean State Waves struggled to get going offensively on Wednesday night. However, with their backs against the wall and the game on the line, the Waves waited until the final at-bats to make an incredible comeback for their fans, showing they should never be counted out until the final swing.
The Waves rallied in the ninth inning with three runs to defeat the Laconia Muskrats, 5-4. The Waves’ Ryan Blanton won the game for Ocean State, ending a three-run rally in the ninth inning with a walk-off RBI single. Tim Caputo was also huge for the Waves late, hitting a game tying, two-run RBI double in the inning. Despite getting outhit by the Muskrats, 11-4, the Waves were able to get runs late in the game, and rally for the victory.
Waves head coach Eric Cirella praised his team’s effort in the comeback victory against the Muskrats.
