Exeter Council addresses break-ins

July 10, 2014

EXETER—At its regular meeting on Monday evening, the Exeter Town Council addressed concern from residents about break-ins which have occurred in recent months. Councilman Robert Johnson asked that residents who suspect a break-in should contact the Rhode Island State Police, but emphasized on Wednesday that the issue is not ‘out of control.’
“There have been four events in the past year on Widow Sweets Road,” said Johnson. “I am trying to confirm with the state police what information they have, but there was a rumor it was a Verizon guy, or a guy imitating a Verizon guy.”
“[The state police] have confirmed he is legitimate, and that he has been very cooperative,” he continued. “One of the homes had a fingerprint, and he offered up his fingerprint to confirm it was not his.”
