Erinakes files suit against Odeum Corp.

August 14, 2014

WARWICK — The Erinakes name has been synonymous with performing arts and entertainment within East Greenwich for nearly a century.
However, a prominent member of that family is now in court against the group currently overseeing operations of the local theater regarding the mortgage of the building.
In a lawsuit filed in Kent County Superior Court on July 22, Stephan G. Erinakes is suing the Odeum Corporation and three relatives of his over the “validity and enforceability of a promissory note and a mortgage made by the Odeum Corporation” regarding the Greenwich Odeum Theater located at 59 Main St.
In 2012, a group of residents in town formed to help reopen the historic venue and, according to court documents, the board of directors of the Odeum Corporation “questioned the enforceability of the promissory note and mortgage” held by Erinakes – who was no longer on the Odeum’s board of directors – on the property of the theater.
