PAWTUCKET – Jen Miller knew what to expect.
The East Greenwich girls tennis No. 2 singles player was facing the No. 4 seed from Division I, and the Avenger senior had lost to Prout’s Kate Gilligan in the past. Miller just wanted to go out, have fun, play well and let the result take care of itself.
On another court, teammate Aleksandra Drljaca didn’t have much an idea of what to expect.
The Avs’ No. 1 singles player was making her Girls Tennis Singles Championship Tournament debut and knew she was going to face some tough opponents.
Strange thing was, despite much different results, both finished the tournament happy.
Miller lost in her final singles tournament appearance, falling to quarterfinalist Gilligan 6-0, 6-1, but Drljaca make quite a debut, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling to finalist Hannah Zangari of North Kingstown, 6-1, 6-0.
