NARRAGANSETT - Traffic along Route 108 will flow more smoothly with the opening of three bridges in South County earlier this week.
Two of the bridges carried traffic from Route 1 over Route 108 at the Narragansett exit. One takes vehicles northbound and the other takes vehicles southbound. They had been shut down since the fall of 2009. The state Department of Transportation had opened the northbound bridge in the summer, but the southbound remained closed for repairs until Sunday night, Nov. 21. During repairs, north and southbound traffic had to share first the northbound portion and then the southbound portion.

The third bridge, carrying northbound Route 1 traffic from the corner of Route 108 at Point Judith Road, Woodruff Avenue and South Pier Road opened Monday night, Nov. 22. During repairs, drivers had to use another on-ramp at the Dillon Rotary.
