NORTH KINGSTOWNâ€”Last month, the 180 students that make up the sixth grade at Davisville Middle School entered into a classroom much bigger than four walls and desks. Over four days in February, students visited the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrationâ€™s Okeanos Explorer, the only federal research vessel dedicated to only ocean exploration.
Upon visiting the 224-foot long vessel docked at the University of Rhode Islandâ€™s Bay Campus in Narragansett, students were able to speak with crew members and engineers about ocean exploration, and learn about the tools that are used in order to gain knowledge of the world below the waves.
