SKHS Vice Principal Kevin Cronin speaks during Tuesday’s South Kingstown School Committee meeting.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - South Kingstown High School Assistant Principal Kevin Cronin addressed the school committee on Tuesday with alarming statistics regarding chronic absenteeism.

“For the first time, the Rhode Island Department of Education has presented schools with their chronic absenteeism data,” said Superintendent Kristen Stringfellow. “Certainly we have been keeping track of it on our own, but this is the first time we can compare with the state number and district to district. We asked Mr. Cronin to come talk about what our data is and our plans.”
