Crawford resigns from EGSD

August 14, 2014

EAST GREENWICH — After a decade within the East Greenwich School District, one of the best administration directors in the state is moving south.
Maryanne Crawford, who has guided the School District through budgets, contracts and offered clear explanations of plans to School Committee members and the public at-large for the last 10 years as the Director of Administration, resigned from her position to accept the same job with the South Kingstown School Department.
Crawford, according to Superintendent Victor Mercurio, notified school officials of her resignation three weeks ago. School Committee Chairperson David Green said Tuesday that Crawford wanted to take a new opportunity with a new school system and jumped right at the chance. At the same time, Green is disappointed knowing Crawford’s shoes will be extremely big ones to fill.
