COVENTRY â€“ There was good news and not-so-good news for the 150 people who showed up for/Tuesdayâ€™s financial meeting held at Coventry High School.
On a positive note, the townâ€™s budget of $89,712,866 for 2012- 2013 was unanimously approved with $42,180,728 being appropriated from tax revenues for school department operations, $23,544,839 appropriated for municipal government and $2,171,334 to be appropriated in tax revenues, interest and State aid.
The issue of resolving the police and municipal pension liability still needs to work.
â€śWe continue to see how our economy is in poor shape,â€ť said Coventry Town Manager Thomas Hoover. â€śFuel costs have continued to increase along with healthcare costs. Weâ€™re proud to produce a budget that produces no tax increase. However, one of our challenges remains pension liability.â€ť
