COVENTRY â There was good news and not-so-good news for the 150 people who showed up for/Tuesdayâs financial meeting held at Coventry High School.
On a positive note, the townâs budget of $89,712,866 for 2012- 2013 was unanimously approved with $42,180,728 being appropriated from tax revenues for school department operations, $23,544,839 appropriated for municipal government and $2,171,334 to be appropriated in tax revenues, interest and State aid.
The issue of resolving the police and municipal pension liability still needs to work.
âWe continue to see how our economy is in poor shape,â said Coventry Town Manager Thomas Hoover. âFuel costs have continued to increase along with healthcare costs. Weâre proud to produce a budget that produces no tax increase. However, one of our challenges remains pension liability.â
