COVENTRY—Tuesday afternoon, the Coventry Police Department arrested a Coventry man on three charges of child molestation.

The alleged offender, David L. Lyons, 68, of 59 Hopkins Hill Rd. operates a state licensed daycare with his wife, Lynda Lyons. The daycare is also located at 59 Hopkins Hill Rd.

According to a press release from the Coventry Police Department, the investigation began on July 15 after a parent went to the station and reported to the police that her 6-year-old daughter had been molested by David Lyons.

Upon investigations, the release stated that it was later determined that David Lyons also allegedly molested the victim’s 9-year-old sister as well as an unrelated 11-year-old girl.

Lieutenant John Shields of the Coventry Police Department could confirm that at least two of the victims attended the daycare.

David Lyons was arrested Tuesday for charges on three alleged counts of second-degree child molestation. Shields stated that the police waited the three months to make the arrest due to investigations.
