COVENTRY— Two District 5 Coventry residents have stepped up to the plate as candidates for the town council seat that has been vacant since Councilman Ted Jendzejec resigned in early spring.
Tammy J. Duxbury and Arthur E. Fillo Jr. are running in the District 5 special election which will be held September 2, one week before the state’s primary election. The declaration for the council seat closed on June 20 and the nomination papers were handed out on Tuesday to the two, who now each need 50 signatures by July 1. There will not be a primary election as Duxbury and Fillo are the only two running.
