CHARLESTOWN -- The Town Council also announced last Monday night the resignation of Bernard Bishop from the town Parks and Recreation Commission. He sent in his letter of resignation March 2 via e-mail, in which he outlined his reasons for leaving.
âI have enjoyed my time on the commission throughout the years with the exception of the past 12 months," he wrote, likely referring to the back-and-forth on how to move forward with the town beach facilities.
(Calls to Bishop were not returned.)
He then noted that his time running the youth and adult basketball programs was extremely satisfying.
âAnd [I] feel that with the help of the Recreation Commission and the past recreation director (Lisa DiBello), we made a significant contribution to the recreation programs in the town," he said.
âI feel it is my time to step aside and concentrate on other interests that I have.â
The council recognized Bishop's longtime commitment to the town with a certificate of appreciation. He began his tenure on Parks and Recreation Commission in March 1993, when he was appointed to the board.
The certificate reads as follows: "Being mindful of the fact that the many volunteers in the town of Charlestown are deserving of the deepest gratitude and appreciation of the town for their efforts and contributions, this certificate of appreciation is being presented to Bernard Bishop in special recognition of his individual commitment to recreation efforts within the town.âView more articles in:
