Council, school committee hammer out budget

May 8, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – The town council continued to discuss the budget for fiscal year 2015 Monday night in a work session with the school committee.

Some council members continue to express apprehension about funding $357,882 for the school department, which requested the money after learning that it would need to contribute $712,000 to the annual required contribution of the town’s pension system.

“We just didn’t have the money to fund that,” said Superintendent Katherine Sipala.
