After three years of work, 100-page book detailing town’s future receives approval
EAST GREENWICH — Town Councilman Brad Bishop held up the spiral-bound, 100-plus page booklet with the words “East Greenwich Comprehensive Plan” in bold blue type with the biggest smile inside the Town Hall Chambers Monday evening.
Bishop, who was the chairperson for the East Greenwich Planning Board when the new comprehensive plan was in its genesis a few years ago, couldn’t wait to give his stamp of approval on the finalized edition.
Nor could the other four members of the East Greenwich Town Council, or Planning Director Lisa Bourbonnais for that matter.
Soon after Bishop was allowed by Council President Michael Isaacs to make the motion for passage of the last draft of the comprehensive plan, the other Council members followed suit, giving the proverbial thumbs up in unanimous fashion to the new document that will highlight what the future will hold for the Town of East Greenwich.
“I just want to say thank you for a job well done,” Bishop said to Bourbonnais.
Bishop also extended his gratitude toward Samuel Shamoon of Shamoon Planning for his immense assistance in working with the Planning Department – including the members of the Planning Board - and with the state to make the comprehensive plan a reality in the eyes of the Town of East Greenwich.
“This was an awful lot of work,” Isaacs said. “I just want to thank everyone for all of their hard work. Now, we just have to wait for state approval.”
