Froyo is the fix in Narragansett
By SHAUN KIRBY
NARRAGANSETT—A new, refreshing business opened its doors in Salt Pond Plaza this past weekend. With a cool and stylish interior, Froyo Fix brings fresh, frozen yogurt to customers looking for a new taste and respite from the heat.
“[My family members] all came up with the idea,” said Thao Nguyen, who works as a server at Froyo Fix. “There are a lot of frozen yogurt places on the west coast, and the trend is slowly moving its way here.”
“The area needs something like this, with us having the beach and all of the young kids,” she added.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Froyo Fix offers a number of frozen yogurt flavors, from Euro Vanilla Tart to Cake Batter. Customers can walk up and select whichever flavors they would like, and top their yogurt off with over 70 toppings, from fruits to chocolate sprinkles.
“You can choose toppings at the bar, and we charge 49 cents per ounce,” said Nguyen. “The yogurt can really be your own creation.”
Nguyen also emphasized that Froyo Fix focuses on keeping healthy, and because of the self-serve nature of her family’s business, customers can pick and choose how much sugar they wish to pile on.
“Our yogurts contain about 90 to 100 calories, and it is pro-biotic, so it helps with the digestive system,” said Nguyen. “We have no-sugar added and non-dairy products for those who need them as well.”
“We rotate our flavors every two weeks and put everything out fresh and keep things clean,” she added.
The Nguyen family, which also owns VIP Nails in the north end of Narragansett, are hoping that their nutritional and frozen yogurt will excite customers throughout the community, and hope to reach a larger market through different venue types.
“We are looking into doing catering as well as a Froyo Fix food truck, so we will be expanding,” said Nguyen. “Being a part of the community, we feel that everyone is our family and friends.”
“We had a wonderful reception so far from everyone, so we are grateful for that,” she added.
