Community inspired by SK youth’s cancer battle

Doug Barlow, a junior at SKHS, is being buoyed by friends and family, as well as his happy-go-lucky approach, during his battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The true strength of a community is shown through its ability to pull through the toughest of times. For the people of South Kingstown, these dark hours were found in the struggle of a local teen and baseball player.

Eight months ago, South Kingstown High School junior Doug Barlow was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and it appeared his days as a normal student athlete were over. Rather than let this young man battle alone, the people of his school, church, town and teams pulled together to give him the greatest gift they could, support.
