Community forum helps parents deal with adolescence

EAST GREENWICH — A young person going through adolescence can be a challenge both personally and socially.

It can also be a challenge for parents of an adolescent, trying to guide their child through the various changes the development stage can bring in that brief period of time.

It was a topic important enough for Bob Houghtaling, the town’s substance abuse prevention coordinator, held a community forum last Wednesday evening in front of a good crowd of close to 30 people, a crowd that included some notable figures in local government, at Swift Community Center entitled “Everything You Need To Know About Kids … And Better Ask: Part II.”
