Commissioner Gist coming to NK Tomorrow Night

January 17, 2011

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Rhode Island Education Commissioner Deborah Gist will be holding a community forum in North Kingstown tomorrow night as part of her Commissioner’s 2010-2011 Listening and Learning Tour.
As part of her tour, Gist will visit every school district and hold a community forum where she’ll discuss the strategic plan that’s transforming education in the state and take questions from the public.
“The U.S. Department of Education has recognized that our strategic plan is one of the best in the country and has awarded Rhode Island $75 million in Race to the Top funds to implement our plan,” Commissioner Gist said. “It’s important that everyone: students, parents, teachers, school leaders and community members, work together to make our schools the best in America. I’m looking forward to meeting with people from across the state to discuss how we can trans-form education in Rhode Island.”
The public is urged to attend the forum and come prepared with questions.
The forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the North Kingstown High School auditorium.
