Children’s course to provide unique opportunities

July 14, 2014

COVENTRY— First of its kind in the state, the Rhode Island Children’s Golf Course in Coventry is youth development alternative six-hole golf course that educates children with core life values while also teaching them the fundamentals of golf.
The golf course is partnered with the national First Tee organization that introduces the game of golf and its values to young people. Their mission is to impact the lives of children by providing educational programs that builds moral character, encourage life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the sport.
David McBride runs the Rhode Island Children’s Golf Course at the site of the former Washington Village Golf Course and uses his expertise in golf to help educate young adults. In 1986, McBride became a Class A Pro Golfer member under the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.
