Chariho High School students create a "sticker shock"

December 23, 2010

WOOD RIVER JCT. – If you pick up a 30-pack of beer in the next few days or so, you might see an unfamiliar sticker attached to the package bearing the text, “Help prevent underage drinking. Out of their hands... Know the law! It is illegal to purchase or provide alcohol for anyone under 21!”

The stickers are part of an initiative by a group of Chariho Regional High School students who want you to remember that buying or providing alcohol for people under the age of 21 is a crime.

This past Monday afternoon, the students, some of whom are part of the high school's Students Preventing Underage Drinking, or SPUD, visited area liquor stores including Wildwood Liquors in Wyoming and Rippy's Liquor & Marketplace in Charlestown armed with loads of the stickers.
