Chargers find groove against Pilgrim in second season win

April 17, 2014

The Chariho boys volleyball team (seen here against Coventry) won their second match against Pilgrim on Tuesday.

WARWICK — It was a 180-degree difference of performance put out by the Chariho boys’ volleyball team on Tuesday night. Instead of a bested team struggling to find an offensive flow, the team was a collaborative unit, marked by strong blocks and fluid communication.

The Chargers traveled to Pilgrim High School to face a team with a record that wasn’t far off their own in 2013. After Tuesday’s match, the Patriots sunk to 1-4 and the Chargers took their second win to put them at 2-3 in the first month of the spring season. Not that it was a crushing win all the way through, but the Chariho team made the third game of the match look easy. But, in the end it was a sweep by the Chargers in the 3-0 final, made up of game scores 25-15, 25-23, and 25-7.
