Chargers break in the fourth

April 24, 2014

WEST WARWICK — When the ball left Dustin Jarrett’s bat, it appeared the West Warwick baseball team was about to turn a double play. And then, moments before the ball was about to disappear into the glove of West Warwick second baseman Matt Grenier, the ball struck the base umpire.

Somehow, even though the ball wasn’t struck with much venom, the umpire failed to get out of the way of the ball and the break allowed Chariho to score three runs against lefty starter Tommy Doran.
