SOUTH KINGSTOWN â Two local businesses are changing hands after obtaining approvals from the South Kingstown Town Council Monday night.
After stints with various owners, the former owner of PJâs Pizza on Kingstown Road by the Peace Dale rotary, Peter Tsagaroulis, is taking over the business again.
Tsagaroulis originally owned PJâs from 1998 to 2006 and is the owner of PJâs Pub on Boon Street in Narragansett.
He said the restaurant will offer delivery service and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will be offering the original menu of pizzas, subs, salads and appetizers.
âWe will be bringing back the excellent quality and clean environment, which has been missing for a little while,â Tsagaroulis said.
The council voted 4-0, Councilor Paul Donnelly was absent, to approve a victualling license for PJâs Pizza, subject to the issuance of a certificate of occupancy.
Just Dâs at 706 Matunuck Beach Road closed at the end of the summer season.
Shaun Rock and Barbara Placido own the building, which also houses Matunuck Surf Shop and Matunuck Laundry. They said the lease with the café was up after five years and they plan to take over the café and run it themselves as Beach Rock Café.
Rock said they plan to maintain the footprint of the existing cafĂ© and use some of it as a gallery space for his artwork. They will serve breakfast and lunch and use the space as a âcoffee house settingâ in the evenings.
Rock said the café will be open part-time during the winter and daily during the summer.
