Break-in reported at Hal’s Auto Garage

March 21, 2014

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Hal’s Auto Garage and Auto Body on Old Tower Hill Road was broken into on Sunday according to police. South Kingstown police responded to an alarm at the building and found the front door smashed out.

An unknown subject was seen in security footage wearing dark clothing and attempting to break in through the front door using a crowbar before shattering the door with his foot. Once he gained entry, the man opened the cash register from behind the counter, only to find that there were only a few small bills in the drawer, which he left.

The suspect then exited the building with nothing but the crowbar and the empty bag that he brought in. He continued through the parking lot and east on Old Tower Hill Road on foot.

Despite nothing being stolen, the owner of the building estimates $2,500 of damages to the property, mostly to the front door.

The police were unable to gather any physical evidence and have no suspect.
