In advance of its December 9 spin-off from Time Warner (TWX), AOL is looking to cut as much as a third of its staff. According to a SEC filing, AOL has notified its employees of the cuts.

Williams-Sonoma (WSM) posted earnings of $7.3 million, or 7 cents per share, for the third quarter, as compared to a loss of $11 million, or 10 cents per share, in the same quarter last year. Cost controls at the companys namesake cookware and Pottery Barn home goods stores helped results.

Children's Place Beat Wall Street Estimates

Childrens Place (PLCE) posted a third quarter profit of $37.8 million, or $1.37 per share today, as compared to $24.1 million, or 81 cents per share, in the same quarter last year. Net sales climbed three percent to $463.2 million and income from continuing operations came in higher than Wall Street estimates.
