NEW SHOREHAM – The town of New Shoreham voted last week against supporting the proposed Rhode Island Fast Ferry Service from Quonset to Block Island.
Town Manager Nancy O. Dodge confirmed that the New Shoreham Town Council voted 4-1 not to support Rhode Island Fast Ferry’s application currently before the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers.
The town is asking Charles Donadio Jr., president of Rhode Island Fast Ferry, to withdraw his application as he said he would if the town did not support his endeavor, according to a letter dated Sept. 25 from the town’s attorney, Katherine A. Merolla, to the division.
Donadio previously told The Standard Times that he wanted to work with the town on the proposed ferry service.
