Big Apple Circus pulls stakes at Ninigret

March 13, 2014

Big Apple Circus has canceled its scheduled appearance at Ninigret Park this summer citing financial losses during its recent winter shows in New York and Atlanta. Above, performers wave goodbye during at performance at Ninigret in 2012.

CHARLESTOWN – The Big Apple Circus will not be returning to Ninigret Park this year.

The circus, based in Brooklyn, N.Y., struggled financially during the harsh winter and ultimately lost revenue.

“It was a very difficult decision to make and the reason for the decision was financial, mostly because of weather conditions,” said Joel Dein, communications director for Big Apple Circus. “It was a very difficult tour for us.”
