EAST GREENWICH – Only a caring teacher, in the guise of helping the only boy surrounded by five girls, can sound perfectly natural when saying, “Robert, I think you might want your horns a little bigger.”
That would be monster horns; made to resemble a beast from “Monster’s, Inc.” On Robert’s funky fleece hat, which he was making to adorn his mannequin head.
Robert Brooks, sister Madeleine, Gabrielle Beaulieu and Addie and Julia Malekmes were part of Kristen Beaulieu’s Holiday Vacation Art Day Camp, held over three days last week for students aged 6 to 12 at her Figgy’s Art Studio, a colorful, eclectic facility in an old mill at 5 Division Street.
Under the tutelage of Beaulieu – an artist and certified art instructor who has run her Figgy’s Studio for three years – each child got to choose, draw, sew, cut, adorn, decorate and even wear funky fleece creations which ranged from beasts to Pandas to cats to crowns.
