Crusaders heading to D-I Finals after thrilling win

November 10, 2010

The Prout girls volleyball team is heading back to the Division I State Championship game but it sure wasn't easy.
Despite being down a game twice and, on despite being down to match point five times, the Crusaders found a way to win the points that mattered, holding off Mount St. Charles 21-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-11, 19-17 to advance to Saturday's D-I title game against either Coventry or North Kingstown (check back on this site later for an update on that game).
For more on Tuesday's Crusader victory, and a preview of the state title game, pick up a copy of Friday's Narragansett Times.

EG escapes UnPleasant feeling, tops Kilties in PKs

November 6, 2010

The East Greenwich boys soccer team dodged a major bullet Friday night, escaping with a win in penalty picks in a 1-1 game with Mount Pleasant.
After a scoreless first half, EG scored with just over 20 minutes left in the game, but Mount Pleasant answered with a goal less than one minute later.
The half finished tied at one and the two 10-minute overtime periods were both scoreless. In the penalty kicks, EG converted four of five while keeper Alex Serino made two saves, avoiding what would have been a monumental upset of the No. 1 seeded Avengers.

WEB EXCLUSIVE: Rebels let a close one slip away vs. Bolts

November 6, 2010

SOUTH KINGSTOWN–The South Kingstown football team has suffered some tough losses this season but none, not even the 31-0 loss to Barrington a week ago, hurt the way Friday night's 20-16 defeat to Cranston East did.
Because, for the first time this season, the Rebels left the field knowing they let a sure win slip away.
