Chariho struggles offensively in loss to Tolman

PAWTUCKET— This past Friday the Chargers football team hit the road for their third game of the season taking on the Tolman Tigers at Parisseau Field in Pawtucket. The Tigers clawed their way through the game by not allowing Chariho to add any points to the scoreboard, defeating the Chargers by three touchdowns, 21-0.

Chariho competes in cross country meet versus North and South Kingstown

CHARIHO— The North Kingstown Skippers have had quite the cross country season thus far in the fall. As the second ranked team in the entire state, the Skipper’s Girls Cross Country team was ready for their second meet of the season, as they got ready to race against the South Kingstown Rebels and the Chariho Chargers on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at Chariho High School.

Chargers blank Cumberland in ninth game

CHARIHO—The Chargers hosted the Cumberland Clippers this past Monday night at Chariho High School in what was primed to be a Division 1 showdown.
The Chargers, despite the struggles earlier in the season, showed they are one of the best teams in the division, as they cruised to the victory in three sets, 3-0.
The Chargers dominated the game early and often against the Clippers. Rhiannon Wilson had ten kills in Monday’s victory against Cumberland. Teammate Emily Ali had eight kills in Monday’s win, helping the team earn their third win of the season.

EWG volleyball defeats Coventry

COVENTRY— One of the longest winning streaks in the state came to a dramatic end Friday night.
The four-time reigning Division II champion Exeter-West Greenwich girls volleyball team, armed with talented middle hitters Jen Donnelly and Jenna Bridges, overcame a four-point deficit in the fourth game of Friday’s contest to force a deciding fifth game with three-time defending state champion Coventry.

Chariho comes up big in Cross Country meet

BURRIVILLE- It’s almost fall, and it’s almost time for cross country season in South County. This past weekend, teams from all over the area gathered for the first event of the season in the ‘Around the Course’ Injury Fund 5k Races at the Burriville Middle School course.
Each team was looking to get a head start on what should be an exciting season of cross country.

Chariho falls to EG in Injury Fund Tourney

WESTERLY—The Chariho Chargers football team were challenged by Division III East Greenwich this past Friday night in the Injury Fund Tournament held at Westerly High School and unfortunately the Avengers pulled away with the 20-6 victory in the opening exhibition.
The Injury Fund classic featured teams ranging from Division I, all the way to Division III. The teams involved were Chariho, East Greenwich, Westerly, Narragansett, North Kingstown, and also South Kingstown.

Tough opening for Rhody Men’s Soccer

KINGSTON — The University of Rhode Island Men’s Soccer team opened up their season at home this past Friday night with a frustrating 1-1 tie against Seton Hall University, as the Pirates scored a goal late in the second half of play to force the draw, after the game reached two overtimes.

EG girls ready for title push

EAST GREENWICH - The East Greenwich girls soccer team’s season ended in disappointment last fall. The team made it all the way to the Division I semifinal round, and fell short of their championship goals against La Salle Academy.
This season, the Avengers are back to make another run, and are looking to be one of the best teams in Division I soccer.
EG lost seven seniors from last season, which makes it difficult for a return back to the postseason. However, there are nine seniors on this year’s roster who look to lead East Greenwich not just back to the playoffs, but to a championship.

Chariho falls in season opener tournament

EAST GREENWICH— The Chariho Boys’ Soccer team opened up their season this past week at East Greenwich High School in an Injury Fund exhibition tournament against Shea before taking on Mt. Hope High School in their season opener on Friday.
The matchup versus the Raiders was a tough game for the Chargers as Shea’s speed and execution led to a 4-0 shutout win.
