Annual drug report released

July 12, 2013

EAST GREENWICH — Bob Houghtaling, the director of the East Greenwich Drug Program, released last Friday an official report detailing the total number of individuals that were seen regarding both substance abuse and mental health issues over the course of the last 12 months.
The information, dated as of June 30, in the report shows that 202 total clients went through the Drug
Program this past year – 100 of them under the age of 21 – and compares what occurred within the 2013 fiscal year to a three-year average dating back to 2011.

Missing mail baffles residents

EAST GREENWICH — Julie Daynor, a resident of King Street who works at East Greenwich Oil on Main Street, said she had never gone a day without receiving mail in the 30-plus years she has resided in her neighborhood.
That, however, changed in peculiar fashion when Daynor’s mailbox, along with the mailboxes of her neighbors, would remain empty for a couple days at a time.

Wylie stepping down as NE Tech’s provost

Outgoing administrator helped expand, add programs over nine-year period

EAST GREENWICH — Dr. Thomas Wylie has always been fond of being a consultant and wanting to take on new and exciting challenges.
As of the end of this month, Wylie will be doing both.
Wylie, who has served as Senior Vice President and Provost at the New England Institute of Technology for the last nine years, will be retiring from the college and pursuing higher education consulting services with his own company that he just launched, Thomas Wylie Consulting, out of Bradford, Mass.
