Rep. Walsh introduces driving bill

PROVIDENCE -- Rep. Donna Walsh (Democrat, District 36) has introduced H-5122, which will close a loophole used by bad drivers with multiple offenses to evade harsher penalties.

Walsh’s bill is a simple measure that would prohibit any driver who has received a third summons in a 12-month-period from mailing in payment. Instead, that driver would have to appear in person before a judge in municipal court or traffic tribunal.

Lacrosse coming for area youths

The Westerly Area Youth Lacrosse league is offering a FREE event for area parents and students, grades 1 through 8 today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Westerly Middle School.

Join WAYL tonight to hear Dave Cornell and Heather McClelland, head mens' and womens' coaches from Conn College, give interested players the "scoop" on the sport. Vendors will also be available to display and sell equipment. WAYL has received a grant from US Lacrosse for helmets and eye wear for 20 boys. The equipment will be loaned for the season on a first-come, first-served basis.
