Lacrosse coming for area youths

The Westerly Area Youth Lacrosse league is offering a FREE event for area parents and students, grades 1 through 8 today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Westerly Middle School.

Join WAYL tonight to hear Dave Cornell and Heather McClelland, head mens' and womens' coaches from Conn College, give interested players the "scoop" on the sport. Vendors will also be available to display and sell equipment. WAYL has received a grant from US Lacrosse for helmets and eye wear for 20 boys. The equipment will be loaned for the season on a first-come, first-served basis.

Richmond Community Center's calendar packed with activities

RICHMOND – If you're looking for something to do this coming February, you should probably head on over to the Richmond Community Center.

Located above the Richmond Police Station on Main Street, the center has a full month of activities planned for next month. The Richmond Social Activities Ad Hoc Committee deserves much of the thanks for this initiative, as does Town Administrator Steve Sette.

The administrator has helped the committee ever since they got their start back late last year as a means of picking up where the disbanded Richmond Senior Citizens Association left off.
