Skippers fall in D-I field hockey quarters

The North Kingstown girls field hockey saw its solid season come to an end Monday with a 2-0 loss to Moses Brown in the Division I field hockey quarterfinals.

NARRAGANSETT—For those citizens who hope to take a more active part in the workings of local government, the Town Council has recently updated and redesigned its website. The site address has remained the same (www.narragansettri.gov) but its appearance has changed and the navigation tools are more user-friendly.

East Greenwich girls tennis falls in D-II final

In a battle of undefeateds, someone was leaving with a loss and without a state title and Saturday at Slater Park, that was the East Greenwich girls tennis team.
Smithfield won at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles and the Avengers won at No. 1 doubles, then had great comebacks at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles as well as No. 3 singles to force third sets.
But as the EG No. 3 doubles team won their match to make it 4-2 - and No. 3 Stephanie Huang was up 4-0 in the third - the No. 2 doubles team fell in a third set tiebreaker, giving Smithfield the title.

Richmond street lights remain a concern

Governor’s race peaks with final round of debates

SMITHFIELD—Wednesday’s governor’s forum, cosponsored by the League of Women’s Voters, ABC-TV, WRNI public radio, and Bryant University lacked the energy and ideas of Tuesday’s Channel 12 debate. In the usual League format (as seen in the Meet the Candidates forums in Narragansett earlier this month) candidates were slotted 45 seconds to answer a question and issued wild cards to extend or inject remarks.

East Providence man arrested for assaulting 12-year-old

RICHMOND -- On Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m., police arrested Paul Massey, 21, of East Providence, for second-degree child molestation/sexual assault of a 12-year-old Richmond girl.

The Division II girls tennis final is set.
East Greenwich had no trouble mov

Aleksandra Drljaca won at No. 1 singles as did Stephanie Huang at No. 3 and Edie Golden at No. 4 singles. East Greenwich closed out the match with a win at No. 1 doubles.

The Avengers will meet Smithfield, which beat South Kingstown 4-0. The Rebels lost at No. 1 and 3 singles and Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, but had the match played out, it looked like it was heading to 4-3 because No. 2 Chloe Cullen and No. 4 Cassie Collinson had both picked up momentum with strong second sets.
