Prostitute arrested by EG Police

September 10, 2012

East Greenwich police recently made an arrest of a woman who was involved in a prostitution act on Long Street.

Marissa Rose Anderson, 21, of 296 Lincoln Ave., Fall River, Mass., was placed into custody on Aug. 28 by officers after she was caught in an undercover sting after receiving the initial call from an acquaintance in Massachusetts a couple days prior.

School renovations progressing

EAST GREENWICH — School Superintendent Victor Mercurio knew that a lot of work needed to be done in a short amount of time when it came to the first stage of the renovation process with Meadowbrook Farms Elementary School.

But the veteran educator, who is entering his third year in charge of the East Greenwich School District, was pleasantly surprised – bordering on shocked – as to how much progress was made at the old institution on Chestnut Drive.

Planning discusses affordable housing

NORTH KINGSTOWN – A public hearing was continued from July to Tuesday’s Planning Commission meeting for the Master Plan of a proposed two-lot major subdivision for low and moderate income housing on Boston Neck Road and Elm Drive.

Exeter's celebrated architect Bill Warner dies

EXETER – While William D. “Bill” Warner, the visionary architect whose designs included reviving Providence’s riverfront – and earned him 50 national and regional awards – is mourned throughout the state and beyond, Exeter residents remember him as a man committed to his community.
Warner died Aug. 27 at age 83 after a six-month illness.
