SOUTH KINGSTOWNâ€“Wallace "Wally" Campbell III, former president of Peace Dale's Museum of Primitive Art and Culture, died on Feb. 6 at Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Campbell, 93, was an investment adviser and later a trustee at Sturges, Chaffee and Hazard from 1957 until 2005. Campbell graduated in 1937 from Milton Academy and after four-years at Yale he joined the Air Force and served in World War II. Campbell also served as the Primitive Art and Culture Museum's president for 22 years. Campbell's grandfather, Rowland G. Hazard II, began working to establish a museum collection in 1892. Hazard received numerous local donation to the original collection which evolved and expended from Holly House, his Peace Dale home, to what is now the Peace Dale Library.
The Town Council looked around for challenges last week, but didnâ€™t have to turn its head far to find a big one: $70.65 million in debt service.
With debt service on the $52 million school bond approved by local voters added to the recently built police station, Swift Community Center renovation and road work approved on last Novemberâ€™s ballot, dealing with the load topped the list of goals Town Manager William Sequino Jr. prepared for the council.
Sequino suggested a fiscal sustainability study, to be conducted by the R.I. Public Expenditure Council or a similar agency, could offer the town some guidance on the fiscal challenges ahead.

NARRAGANSETT â€“ In an effort to allow members of Rhode Islandâ€™s fishing community to share their basic views on a number of marine issues, a roundtable discussion was held at the University of Rhode Islandâ€™s Coastal Institute on the Bay Campus Monday, February 7.
The ice and bitter cold temperatures didnâ€™t stop a slew of students and parents from attending the â€śRachelâ€™s Challengeâ€ť presentation at Exeter-West Greenwich Senior High School last Thursday night. The third presentation of the day featured speaker Dave Gamache, who has traveled from school to school spreading the message of â€śRachelâ€™s Challengeâ€ť for the past four years.The presentation was made possible through the efforts of the Domestic Violence Research Center and the Friendship Fund.
