For 38 minutes Tolman goalie Jared DaSilva and the rest of the No. 3 Tigers found a way to frustrate the state’s leading scorer, West Warwick/Exeter-West Greenwich senior forward Antonio Rei, in Game One of the Division III championship series at Meehan Auditorium Saturday afternoon.

RI public college tuition up 27 percent over last five years

PROVIDENCE - Rhode Island’s public colleges have increased tuition over the last five years in an effort to help make up for lost state revenue, according to a report released Tuesday by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Sheehan wants office to combat government fraud, mismanagement

NORTH KINGSTOWN—In light of a report released last week by Governor Lincoln Chafee this past week uncovering fraud and mismanagement in the state’s food stamp (EBT) and Medicaid programs, Sen. James C. Sheehan (Dist.36—Narragansett, North Kingstown) has introduced legislation which would establish a state inspector general’s office to help bring a higher level of consistency and efficiency to the state’s finances.

Eckles enjoyed time as All-Star

Brandon Eckles was more than grateful to be selected as one of the 48 best players in the state and compete in the Rhode Island Coaches Association All-Star games last Wednesday at Rhode Island College.
At the same time though the whole thing felt just a little bit off and it’s easy to see why.

Girls lacrosse team has a new mentor

This past winter East Greenwich saw a significant amount of turnover amongst its head coaches.
Matt Records – who prior to the move was the head coach of the girls basketball team – took over the boys basketball team for Craig MacKenzie and Records’ former assistant coach – Tori Ahrens – took his place.

Prout ran out of time in game one

Top-seeded Lincoln slipped past the No. 2 Prout 3-2 Thursday night at Brown Universities George V. Meehan Auditorium.
With a late flurry the Crusaders (15-5-0, 14-4-0 Division II Central) closed a 3-1 deficit, coming up just short against the Lions (19-0-1, 17-0-1 Division II North) as time ran out in game one of the Division II Boy’s Ice Hockey Championship.
