COVENTRY — There aren’t two boys volleyball teams in the state who know each other better than North Kingstown and Coventry thanks to off-season volleyball with the Rhode Island Blast along with assorted summer beach leagues around the state.

NORTH KINGSTOWN — Sometimes a fresh outlook on things is all it takes and that is just what the North Kingstown High School boys tennis team will have as it takes the court this season.
Matt Marion takes over as coach for the Skippers in his first endeavor into high school coaching as NK searches for its first winning season since the spring of 2008.
A long-standing coach on the individual and professional level, Marion looks to bring that same approach to the Skippers this season.

2013 Southern Division Golf Preview

WOOD RIVER JCT.—It’s been 14 years since the Southern Division produced a state champion in golf but this spring the eight-team division is hoping to change that.
After North Kingstown won back-to-back titles in 1998 and ’99 and Hendricken took the title the next two years Barrington has reclaimed its throne atop the state’s high school golf kingdom.

Samantha Smith will head into this weekend’s NCAA Equestrian Championships with a couple of honors in her back pocket.
Smith, from Wakefield (South Kingstown High), is a key performer for the University of South Carolina women’s team. She was recently named Southeast Conference Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-SEC Equestrian Team. She was also voted as the conference’s top rider in Equitation on the Flat by the four SEC head coaches.

Avengers drop 20 goals on SK

EAST GREENWICH—There has been quite the tradition of girls lacrosse at East Greenwich High School of late.
After two straight trips to the Division I semifinals, the Avengers have become a force in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League.
Off to a perfect 4-0 start following Tuesday night’s 20-11 win over South Kingstown, it appears as though there was a seamless transition from last year.
