NARRAGANSETT–Education Commissioner Deborah Gist spent Thursday touring the town's schools and meeting for an hour with 50 teachers. The Board of Regents, meeting in Narragansett High School, voted to have a public hearing on their suggested three-tier diploma system. The system would award a Rhode Island diploma–the same diploma students now receive–with two additional tiers for high performers.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN–Due to its efforts to improve cardiac care and save lives, South Kingstown and its EMS Department became the third Rhode Island community to be awarded and recognized as a HeartSafe community at Monday night’s town council meeting by the American Heart Association.
It was one and done for the Chariho Regional School District, which was entirely closed on Wednesday because of the massive blizzard but is back in business today after a one-hour delay.

North Kingstown and Exeter may have gotten off easy two weeks ago when a quick blizzard passed through the area and left a foot of snow that was picked up without much incident but today, Mother Nature returned with quite a vengeance as well over 15 inches of snow fell across Rhode Island and left areas as far south as Westerly and as far north as Cumberland coated in the white stuff.
So, how did you deal with the storm? Were the roads up to snuff on your commute? Leave a comment and let us know.
