CHARLESTOWN -- Despite the snowy weekend, a good sampling of District 36 voters came to Representative Donna Walsh's community meeting on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at the Charlestown Police Station Community room.
South Kingstown Public Schools will be closed Wed. Jan. 12.
South Kingstown Town Offices will be closed Wed. Jan. 12.
Due to the impending snowstorm tonight through Wednesday morning, the following parking bans will be in effect:
Narragansett: Parking ban starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday
South Kingstown: Parking ban starting Tuesday 11 p.m. thru Thursday at 12 p.m.
The South Kingstown Senior Center will be closed Jan. 12 and there will be no elderly meals.

PROVIDENCE– If good teachers are the most important element to education, the Department of Education shouldn't allow uncertified individuals to teach at Democracy Prep school in Cumberland, says Sen. James C. Sheehan.

Get out your winter hats and snow shovels. It seems as if yet another big snow storm is coming to North Kingstown and Exeter, with reports coming in that anywhere from 10-14 inches of snow is expected to fall on the Washington County area between tonight and tomorrow morning.
Commuters are advised to begin preparing for the storm and to try their best to stay off the roads during the peak hours for the blizzard, which is tentatively slated to begin at 9 p.m. tonight, with the heaviest weather reportedly coming down from 3 a.m.-12 p.m. Wednesday.
North Kingstown – January 10, 2011 – The active students of North Kingstown High School are using civics class to bring change.
A junior at NKHS, Matt Buresh, is trying to change a school policy added this year. He started this movement as his civics project. He is a student in a civics class taught by the decorated teacher Mr. Lawrence Verria.
The rule Buresh wishes to eliminate is the newly added restriction on students during lunch.
North Kingstown's Rob Hazard hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 10:48 left in the first half, giving him 1,000 career points and NK put the game away when it outscored Mount Pleasant 26-5 over the final 7 minutes, 30 seconts in the Skippers' 62-42 win Monday night.
Hazard came into the game with 995 career points and scored his first two on on a driving layup 3:23 into the game. When hit hit his historic 3-pointer, North called a timeout and Hazard and the Skippers briefly celebrated before getting back to work.
