SOUTH KINGSTOWN – With what seems like a yoga studio on every corner in South Kingstown, it may seem difficult to choose which school to go to, but the town's Parks and Recreation Neighborhood Guild has helped make the choice a lot easier by offering its own yoga studio, the Yoga School of South County, 1058 Kingstown Road in Peace Dale.
There is a new person in command of the Coventry Police Department, well starting Friday.
After just three years as chief, Col. Ronald DaSilva, chief of the Coventry Police Department has decided to retire.
DaSilva said that although he was chief for only three years, he does have 22 and a half years invested in the department and that “it’s time for a change.”
The Town Council allowed the East Greenwich Little League to build a set of lights, and night baseball will come to Cragan Field this spring.
January 31st
Girl Scouts from East Greenwich Troop 1380 and North Kingstown Troop 111 recently held a “dress down day” at Our Lady of Mercy School, East Greenwich, to benefit Project Undercover. Over 9,000 pieces of socks, underwear and diapers were collected and donated to the West Bay Community Action program in Warwick.

COVENTRY – The Coventry Oakers made a statement to the rest of Division I last night.
With the Division I leading St. Raphael Academy Saints strolling into town, the Oakers demonstrated that they will have to be mentioned as a contender for the state crown with a convincing 92-72 victory over the Saints, the first in the school’s history and improved their record to 9-4 in league play.

WEST WARWICK — Goals have been hard to come by for the Coventry High hockey team over the last two weekends.
After scoring at least four goals during their eight-game winning streak, the Oakers haven’t lit the lamp more than three times in their last three games, and that includes Saturday night’s game against the only team in Division II with just one win, North Smithfield.
SRI Newspapers will feature one baby (12 months and under) each week. Parents must submit a picture of the baby alone, as well as some information about the baby including birth date, what the baby likes to do etc. Parental permission must be given for all photos submitted in email or in writing. Child must reside in the areas our publications cover in South County.
RICHMOND – If you're looking for something to do this coming February, you should probably head on over to the Richmond Community Center.
Located above the Richmond Police Station on Main Street, the center has a full month of activities planned for next month. The Richmond Social Activities Ad Hoc Committee deserves much of the thanks for this initiative, as does Town Administrator Steve Sette.
The administrator has helped the committee ever since they got their start back late last year as a means of picking up where the disbanded Richmond Senior Citizens Association left off.
As tax season approaches, it is almost time to file that tax return. This year, the AARP Tax-Aide program, which offers free service to help with tax return preparation and filing is extending to low and middle income taxpayers, while also serving its traditional customers, AARP members or senior citizens. The program is also adding a fifth site in South County.
The AARP Tax-Aide program has been serving low and middle income taxpayers for over 40 years. IRS certified volunteers are available at locations in many South County communities to help with tax return preparation and filing. The service includes free electronic filing, providing refunds within 14 days.
January 30th
At Monday night’s town council meeting the room was packed with residents there to discuss dust problems with Department of Environmental Management (DEM) officials.
The dust problems, which residents say come off of the Centre of New England property, are in the area of Johnson’s Boulevard to Jade Road and Arnold Road to Lydia Road.
