SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Many see bullying as just a part of growing up. Yet, kids are not just being stuffed into lockers anymore or given swirlies in a toilet, but are tormented online through social media, which they cannot escape from. With tormented children increasingly committing suicide after months of harassment from their peers, this playground staple seems to be much more than simple growing pains. While many school districts struggle to combat the bullying issue and to develop an adequate bullying policy, the South Kingstown school district is doing all it can to make sure they never lose a student to bullying.
HOPKINTON – The Town Council is down one member after Jonathan Osborne handed in a letter of resignation last Monday, April 18.
April 26th
NORTH KINGSTOWN—Jan Hall-Stinson sits at her desk in the Crossroads Family Housing Complex with a small coffee from Dunkin Donuts, a big, white calendar and a stack of paperwork piled high.
On the wall nearest the door are newspaper clippings reporting the athletic achievements of some of Crossroads’ student athletes enrolled at North Kingstown High School. Displayed on a small table directly below is a scale model of what the buildings at Crossroads will one day look like.
WESTERLY - It was the first match of the season, but it may end up being the biggest.
The Southern Division's top three teams met up Tuesday at foggy Weekapaug Golf Club and it was Prout, the home team, coming away with the sweep, beating North Kingstown 164-165 and Chariho, 164-167, while the Skippers earned a split with the two-shot win over the Chargers.
Prout was led by Nicole Scola, the defending girls champion, who shot a 47; No. 4 Matt Costaregni carded a 41 and Nos. 2 and 3 Greg Zervos and Matt Gerlach both came in at 43.
HOPKINTON -- Before the latest public hearing on a proposed land clearing and earth removal ordinance began Monday night, it became clear that the matter would be continued for the purposes of more research and discussion to find a middle ground.
KINGSTON– The University of Rhode Island is fast becoming one of the top research and economic engines in the state and it may take one step forward by developing a research and technology park to connect private firms with students and the state.

They sing, they tap dance, they laugh and just have fun!
A group of senior citizens at the Beechwood Senior Center has been getting together a couple times a month for more than 30 years to practice their favorites before they bring their show on the road.
As an eighth grader, everyone told Al Georgio he was too small to play running back in high school
In high school, people said he didn’t have the size to stand up to the rigors of varsity play.
During his record-breaking senior season, few thought he would be big enough to play at the college level.
And each time, Georgio proved his doubters wrong.
NARRAGANSETT - With the gloves not working and the bats failing to do anything, things did not go well for the Narragansett softball team in a 5-1 loss to Middletown Monday afternoon.
Pitcher Hannah Lindsley threw another solid game, but her defense didn't give her much help as errors allowed most of the Islanders' runs to score.
NARRAGANSETT - The Narragansett girls lacrosse team got off to a hot start and never let up in a 12-4 win over Warwick Veterans Monday afternoon.
The Mariners scored nine times in the first half, four of those coming from junior Sam Sabetti.
With the game in control, Narragansett did a good job of playing smart with the ball in the second half and its defense kept Warwick Vets' offense quiet.
