Donât expect anything to surprise the Chariho softball team this spring.
Between seniors Sydney Scott, Becca OâDonnell, Skye Hart and Vicky Ferraro the group has seen just about everything over the past few seasons.

WEST GREENWICHâDark clouds and cold temperatures swept across the back fields at Exeter-West Greenwich High School Monday afternoon, making the sunny skies and 60-degree weather seem like a distant memory.
âHere comes the rain,â remarked EWG senior Jess Patalano as she warmed up to throw the javelin.
Defending champs donât sneak up on anybody.
This fact is hardly lost on senior Nick Tierney and North Kingstown boys outdoor track teammates as the Skippers attempt to win their second outdoor track title in a row.
âI can only hope we can come with what we had last year,â Tierney says. âWe lost a few guys in some key areas but as you know we have some new faces and weâre really looking for them to step up.
EAST GREENWICH â After a stellar 20-1 record in 2012 that culminated with a Division II championship victory over West Warwick, the East Greenwich softball team lost three team captains and three of the teamâs more productive starters.
Slowed by illness and injury, East Greenwich senior Ben Fazio had a tough end to his cross country season with a 20th place performance after finishing in 18th the year before.
âI had my first ever injury at the beginning of cross country and then I had mono throughout the whole season,â Fazio says. âCross Countryâs my favorite season and not having a good season definitely gave me some motivation to do better in indoor.â

Seniors Karly Gregory and Victor Ricci have been the unquestioned front runners of the Prout girls and boys track teams, respectively, for the past few years.
This spring the Crusadersâ duo will be looking to make their final impressions on their standout high school careers.
The season may have just begun for the Narragansett boys outdoor track team but so far coach Brian McNeice likes what heâs seen from his team.
âWe have a really, really good attitude this year,â he said by phone Monday night. âIâm really excited about it.
GAUVIN MAKING HER PRESENCE FELT
Samantha Gauvin is finally getting her chance and sheâs making the most of it.
Gauvin, from Coventry (The Prout School), has been a role player for the Ursiline softball team the past three seasons but this year, sheâs become a starter for the Arrows, from Pepper Pike, OH. Sheâs starting at catcher and is hitting .222 (6-for-27) with a double, three RBI and five runs scored. Behind the plate, sheâs made just two errors on 57 chances (.965).
For most teams there is usually one game that it looks forward to all season; the rivalry contest against a neighboring school.
That is not the case for the Prout boys lacrosse team; this season the Crusadersâ will have six.
As a result of realignment Prout will compete in a somewhat new looking Division II-South that features neighbors East Greenwich, Narragansett and South Kingstown, as well as Aquidneck Island foe Middletown.
